Cross-cutting
The Water, Peace and Security (WPS) Cross-Cutting Workstream is designed to enhance collaboration, learning, and impact across regional initiatives by integrating the WPS Integrated Approach into broader peacebuilding efforts.
Its core objective is to share experiences and lessons learned from regional interventions, thereby strengthening the WPS partnership and fostering deeper cooperation within the team across the different regions.
WPS Integrated Approach
A key focus is to expand and consolidate the WPS Integrated Approach, leveraging data, tools, and methodologies to support regional activities. This involves translating theory into practice so that both WPS partners and external actors can replicate successful strategies, refine methods, and build on existing knowledge.
To achieve the application of the WPS Integrated Approach in the future, by both partners and new adopters, this workstream emphasizes:
- Disseminating the WPS Integrated Approach to increase visibility and encourage broader use
- Expand the knowledge base on water-security risks
- Develop innovative data and tools, supporting specific cases with tailored knowledge, resources, and technical expertise
- Drawing insights from real-world applications to refine tools, data, and dialogue processes.
The workstream aims to embed WPS principles into regional peace and security efforts, making them more inclusive, data-driven, and sustainable.
Next steps
Moving forward, the intention is to share the outcomes of these workstream with a broader external audience through strategic communication efforts. This involves making the studies public, sharing the WPS Integrated Approach infographics and drafting a note that highlights the key findings and insights from this workstream. By doing so, the goal is to extend the reach beyond the team and engage a wider community of professionals, researchers, or interested readers. These formats will allow for thoughtful presentation and dissemination of the results, encouraging feedback, and potentially influencing future developments in the field. Ultimately, this step aims to ensure the work gains visibility and contributes meaningfully impact on the ground.
